From February 17–19, 2025, the beautiful city of Prague plays host to PCPSCE’s first in-person General Meeting—a milestone event that brought together 75 participants from 25 countries. This pivotal gathering will be all about strengthening connections, fostering collaboration, and laying the groundwork for future projects through meaningful face-to-face interactions. While much of the focus is on organizational discussions within the Working Groups and Management Meeting, the research dimension remained front and center. Participants will be treated to three interesting keynotes, each showcasing the diverse research goals of our specialized Working Groups:
- Matthew Grenby (Newcastle, UK): Small, Cheap and Boring: Children’s Instructional Print in Early Modern Europe
- Massimo Rospocher (Trento, IT): The Intermediality of the Early Modern Public Sphere
- Claire Madl & Michael Wögerbauer (Prague, CZ): Geographies of the Book: Mapping Networks, Softening Borders, Rethinking Capitals
To wrap up the meeting, we will embark on an excursion through Prague’s rich literary history, visiting four of the city’s most iconic libraries:
- The Palace Library of the Counts of Nostic-Rieneck
- The Palace Library of the Aristocratic Family Kinsky
- Library of Strahov Monastery
- National Library Klementinum
A great thank you to the generous support of our local partners:
- Ústav pro českou literaturu AV ČR, v.v.i. / Institute of Czech Literature of the CAS
- Francouzský ústav pro výzkum ve společenských vědách / Centre français de recherche en sciences sociales
- Historický ústav AV ČR, v.v.i. / Institute of History of the Czech Academy of Sciences
- Univerzita Karlova / Charles University
This meeting will set a strong foundation for future collaborations and research endeavors in our COST Action PCPSCE.
